How to create your first discount campaign (Step-by-step)

A complete walkthrough for launching your first automated discount, from setting your offer value and selecting products to configuring visual countdown timers and widgets.

Ready to boost your sales? Follow this guide to set up your first automated discount campaign using DiscountEasy.

Step 1: Start the Creation Process

From your Dashboard or the Discounts tab, click the black "Create discount" button.

Step 2: Basic Information

  1. Title: Give your campaign a name (e.g., "Spring Sale 2026"). This is for your internal reference.

  2. Date: Select the Start date and time.

    • Optional: Check the "Set end date" box if you want the sale to turn off automatically at a specific time.

Step 3: Set Your Discount Value

In the Discount value section, choose your offer type:

  • Percentage: Enter a number (e.g., 10 for 10% off).

  • Fixed Amount: Enter a specific currency value.

  • Final Price: Enter the exact final amount.

  • Free Shipping: Toggle the "Include free shipping" checkbox if you want to offer this bonus alongside the discount.

Step 4: Choose Which Products to Discount

In the Applies to section, decide where the discount should work:

  • All products: Applies the discount to every item in your store.

  • Products / Collections / Vendors / Tags: Choose these options to limit the discount to specific categories or groups of items.

Step 5: Set Exclusions (Optional, Basic Plan is required)

Use the Exclude section to protect your margins:

  • Exclude products that are on different sale: Prevents "discount stacking" if a product already has a Shopify manual discount.

  • Exclude specific: Manually pick products that should never be discounted.

Step 6: Visuals and Widgets

At the bottom, under Widget appearance, select which Widget you want to display on the product page (e.g., "Default Widget"). This will show the countdown timer or the badge you’ve designed.

Step 7: Save and Launch

Check the Status toggle in the top right corner. Make sure it is set to "Active", then click Save.

Check the Preview! While you are editing, look at the Discount price preview on the right side of the screen. It shows exactly how the price or the countdown timer will look to your customers.
